A downloadable game for Windows

You Want To Play The Game

There's nothing like the thrill of putting on a show for the amusement of gamblers, dark web lurkers, and X-rated livestream enthusiasts alike. Fingers crossed you'll make it through this dicey game of risk and chance.

How To Play

  • The value you roll corresponds to the finger on your hand in play.
  • Use the various items on the table to gain the upper hand.
  • Audience engagement is a must (keep an eye on the livestream chat)!
  • Don't lose all of your fingers!

In-Game Items

  • Ad Break: Decrease your opponent's audience rating by showing their viewers an ad.
  • Bionic Finger: Replace a missing finger with a flimsy alternative.
  • Dice Bag: Replace all dice on the table with new ones.
  • Hack Saw: Swap the positions of any two hands.
  • Scissors: Partially cut a finger.

Disclaimer

Tonight's Entertainment was created for the 2024 Scream TV game jam and is not 100% finished. We apologize for the game not being very clear about how to play it.

For each turn, you need to select a die and a hand to roll it with. You then can confirm your turn and roll the die which gives you a value from 1 to 6. This value corresponds to the fingers on your hand, where 1 is the leftmost finger and 5 is the rightmost finger. If the value you rolled on the die corresponds to a finger still attached to your hand OR the value is 6, then you get to choose any finger to cut off (either your own or your opponent's). If the value you rolled on the die corresponds to a finger that has already been cut off, you can choose an item to use in the middle of the table that corresponds to your missing fingers on the hand you rolled the dice with. For example, if you are missing your right-hand thumb and pinky finger, you can only use the items in positions 1 and 5 (reading from left to right). Each item does something special, although some of the item functionality was not fully implemented.

Our implementation of the theme "The Screen" was that the entire game is a sick and twisted livestream where viewers can vote on which person playing the game is more entertaining. After each turn, you can see an audience rating pop up on the screen to your left that shows how the audience values each person at the table. Your audience rating goes up or down based on the fingers that you chop off during your turn.

While there is no win or loss state for the game, the intended way to win is to cut off all of your opponent's fingers or have their audience rating drop to 0. If either of those things happens to you, though, then you lose. Again, we wish we could have made a more polished game, but we are happy about the style of the game and are taking what we learned on this project and applying it to future endeavors. Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope you can see our vision for the game :)
